An acquaintance of mine was having a bit of a clear out of his stash of bits and pieces and amongst the treasures was this Transcendent Audio Grounded Grid preamp. These are pretty legendary and he let me have it for a very fair price indeed, so I couldn’t really say no. It has a pretty basic pot for volume control, so eventually I will put either a better pot in, from Alps or some such, or go the next step and put in a stepped attenuator from Elma or someone like that.

I understand that there are a couple of caps in the circuit that when changed out for something a bit better reaps benefits, so I have asked Dan Wright from Modwright for a couple of his 1 uF M caps that he has.

Also acquired at the same time are a couple of Transcendent OTL amp kits, yet to be built. These are the Minibeast model, the older version, and good for about 4 watts per channel as stereo amps, and I think about double that when bridged into 16 ohms.

I will have to build them, and finding the time to do that will be the problem… so watch this space and something will eventually turn up.
