I spend a fair amount of time in my office when I am at home either playing guitar or writing lesson plans and whatnot. Suffice to say my office set up gets used more than my other stuff most of the time.

It’s been pretty constant for years, but recently my first generation Audioquest Dragonfly dac gave up the ghost so I went on a mission to find a replacement. I could have stuck with Audioquest and bought one of their newer, better designs, but I thought I would play with something else. I ended up getting a Topping D10s.

Its a cool USB powered dac, small and desk sized and it sounds pretty great considering the stupidly low price.

It uses a ESS ES9038Q2M dac chip and like all modern dacs is as good and clean as they come. One of the things I like about this one is it shows the incoming bitrate on a small LCD screen.
There are a few reviews out there, all universally positive. It’s hard to be negative when the price is so low.

So as it stands my desktop system is:

Topping D10s dac>Perreaux SXP passive preamplifer> M-Audio BX6 active monitors. Cables are a Wireworld Ultraviolet USB that I had sitting around and some DIY RCA-XLR cables to the speakers. I also have a Denon DRM-11 cassette deck hooked up.

It’s a perfectly excellent set up for the office.
