So, the Kondo bits have arrived. I managed to hook them up today and give them a bit of attention. They do sound pretty spectacular, even into the relatively modest Omega speakers I am currently using whilst I await my new DeVores. I have them connected to the Supra power block with a Kondo Avocado power cable on each, no idea if that makes any difference, since I have not heard the electronics here without them, but I have them so might as well use them. I had to fit a couple of new Furutech NZ power connectors instead of the USA style ones that came with them, but that wasn’t a big task. Maybe I will post some pics of that process at some stage. Something I like about all the Kondo cables actually is their flexibility and ability to drape nicely, rather than some of the super stiff cables I have used in days of yore. The Shindo interconnects are the same in this regard.
Sound wise though, the Kondo’s live up to the hype. Huge scale and detail and expression of the music. To trot out a cliche, I am hearing things I haven’t heard before. I listened to a few different things, Paganini SACDs, Dead Can Dance SACDs, streamed drone and electronic stuff, some heavy as fuck drone metal, some cool electronic Ulver etc etc. Everything has sounded amazing so far. And this with the baby full range Omegas! The O/Bronzes will be almost unbelievable I think.
I haven’t had a chance to listen to any vinyl yet, that will be over the weekend with any luck.
I made a nice new longer ethernet able as well to connect from my switch to the dCS, fancy plugs and shielded cat6a cable.
