My main turntable is a Loricraft rebuilt Garrard 301. My serial number (66787) dates from July 1963, putting it near the end of the production run for 301s. This is in a fantastic Lignolab plinth finished in palisander rosewood. There’s a lot more to these plinths than meets the eye that’s for sure. I have an Auditorium23 version of the EMT 997 tonearm attached via an Auditorium23 bronze arm board, and this carries one of the following: EMT JSD6, TSD Anniversary, TMD25i, TND65i or Ortofon SPU-AE. The whole lot sits on three Shindo isolation feet. Art Dudley reviewed the tonearm here a few years back. Also fitted is a Shindo bearing, platter, mat and weight. I installed an Audio Silente idler wheel,  and also a Classic Turntable Company eddy disc, and they seem to have improved the noise floor as well. Pretty stunning set up, and is definitely better than my previous turntables. There’s been so much written about the 301 that I don’t really need to say much.

I also have a Technics SL-1500c direct drive turntable. It sounds great. I use it with my Leak and Falcon set up. I replaced the mat with a rubber and cork one from Pro-Ject. Seems to be good. Damps the platter well anyway and looks pretty cool.

I have a few tapedecks; a few Sonys, a Denon, a NAD, a Pioneer and a pair of Nakamichis. Nothing spectacular but all pretty good. I also have one of the We Are Rewind walkman type tape players which is very cool. Good enough for now.
